World War II: From the Frontlines Review 2023 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online

This documentary is flawed. Starting from the notion that Soviet Union was not central to the conflict. WWII was primarily fought between Nazi Germany and Soviet Union. The documentary focuses on irrelevant battles, irrelevant notions, irrelevant target values, irrelevant facts, irrelevant casualties. Aside from the US-Japan front where the death toll of the conflict is weighted differently due to the reliance on naval shipping, Soviet Union stopped Germans at Vyazma where 400,000 people died, as opposed to 6,000 Allied troops who were killed or wounded at Tobruk.

Heritage of Monte Cassino? Nazi plunders in Tsarskoye Selo such as Yantarnaya Komnata outweigh any damage that was done to the heritage in Fascist Italy. Monte Cassino is a spec of dust.

The Battles of Tobruk cannot be mentioned in the same documentary without mentions of Battle of Kursk, Battle of Kiev both 1941 and 1943. Aside from D-Day, US and British casualties were mostly irrelevant.

Soviet Union did not let Warsaw uprising die. The capture of Warsaw was not essential for the Soviet Union after the massive Operation Bagration operation. To suggest that Stalin had ill intent other than to win the war is flawed – Soviet Union needed the cooperation of the local resistance to establish itself in the region. The Soviet army was not in any position to attack Warsaw after Bagration – it needed time to regroup.

The carpet bombing of Dresden et al by the joint British and American aerial forces was necessary – without disruption of German production and railways Soviet Union would have gotten bogged down on its way to Berlin.

In more ways than one, Norman Bottomley’s resolve paves the Soviet Army’s way to Berlin. Carpet bombing of strategic cities such as Dresden is the one thing Stalin could not accomplish, but Churchill could. To degrade this effort in any way is to degrade the valor of those who accomplished it. Bomber Command did the right thing, and it should have done it sooner. Norman Bottomley was necessarily because he advocated for the destruction. If British people lived through a Siege of Leningrad, there would not be a single German left after the war.
