The Tailor Review 2023 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online

New to streaming this week is the Turkish, dark family drama series, The Tailor (aka Terzi). The series – created by Onur Güvenatam – tells a tightly connected tale about two best friends and the woman who captures both their hearts.

In The Tailor, Peyami Dokumacl is a prestigious tailor from a well-to-do family. He is respected in the world of fashion, is able ascertain a garment’s measurements through sight and touch alone, and is generally viewed as a decent person.

Peyami’s best friend is Dimitri, who is not so good natured. Dimitri comes from wealth, which in turn has allowed him to live a life of privilege, and he has little regard for those who don’t fall in line with his way of thinking.

One such person who falls foul of Dimitri’s terrible behaviour is Esvet – his bride-to-be. Through an arranged marriage, Esvet is shortly set to wed Dimitri, but she knows if the nuptials are to go ahead, her life will be beyond miserable.

Taking an opportunity to escape the situation, Esvet flees Dimitri’s family home, and heads to Peyami’s house, where she hopes to seek sanctuary. But this sanctuary will not come from honesty, but rather from deception.

Peyami and his family have never laid eyes on Esvet before, so they are unaware of her true identity. Esvet uses this to her advantage, to take a job at their home, while remaining under the guise of a carer called Firuzi.

As the story unfolds, secrets are unveiled, truths bubble to the surface, and friendships are tested. Love and romance also become a key factor, as Peyami and Esvet begin to develop feelings for each other.

Starring Çagatay Ulusoy, Salih Bademci, and Şifanur Gül, and inspired by a true story, The Tailor is an intriguing series filled with drama, suspense, and a touch of romance. Told over the course of seven episodes, the series focuses on three central characters (Peyami, Esvet, and Dimitri), and showcases the way in which their lives become intertwined.

As the series begins, it is clear that all three characters share a connection, but it’s not quite so clear just how connected they are. However, as the series progresses, new details are revealed which links them (and their families) ever closer to each other, and this in turn fuels the drama.

And it’s fair to say that at times, The Tailor is very dramatic. Every episode includes one big revelation, most of the characters are pretty nasty people, and there is an element of danger throughout.

The Tailor is not a series about nice people doing nice things. It is a series about questionable people making bad choices, largely fuelled by power, prestige, or money.

But despite the despicable nature of most of the characters in the story, The Tailor is easy viewing, and something which really captures your attention. This is a slick show, which knows how to hook its audience, and it all becomes very moreish.

I believe one of the main reasons I find myself connecting with The Tailor is because the series feels very ‘soapy’. With its small cast of characters, its family-focused story, and the constant twists and revelations, the whole thing plays very much like a soap opera.

Of course, I appreciate this may put some people off The Tailor, if this is really not your kind of thing, but those who don’t mind a good soap will find much to enjoy here. If you’re the sort of person who likes the storytelling of a serialised drama, then The Tailor has this in spades.

This is a well-written show, which knows how to maintain viewer interest. I sat down to watch the first episode, just to see what it was all about, and found myself devouring all seven episodes back-to-back.

The episodes vary in length, from around 30-minutes to about 45-minutes, with each more-or-less picking up from where the previous one left off. The story is also told in a linear fashion, however, there are a few flashbacks in the series to flesh out characters and plot points.

I should point out the series also leaves the door open for more, so while The Tailor does work its way up to a climax, it is clear this isn’t the end of the road. I expect a second season will follow in time, to further the story.

While The Tailor won’t necessarily be for everyone, those who love a good family drama should give this one a go. Push through the first half of episode one, until you get to the first big reveal, and you’ll be fine from there on out.

Should you want to take a look for yourself, The Tailor is available on Netflix from today.
