Minimum Wage Review 2026 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online
Minimum Wage is more than this overacting bunch deserve, in a Netflix series that’s based on a series of Shorts on the American High Youtube channel. I tried watching a couple of those as well. How did it all fare?
Of the staff in this terrible pizza restaurant, Ryan delivers pizza while wearing a silly, massive outfit, Aidan is trying to spend 10 minutes in the freezer – as he thinks his chipolata will grow, and Julie’s been given the chance to audition for Annie… but doesn’t know who Annie is.
Meanwhile, the CEO – Mr. Sylvester (Randall Park) – turns up to see how bad the staff are performing, yet they’re on the verge of closing down the store because it doesn’t make a promotion. To make matters worse, he finds a rat skull, and was told that’s been left there as “a warning to other rats”. Hmm…
On the one hand, Minimum Wage feels like a succession of bad SNL UK sketches… which were all terrible.
It’s also like they’re trying to be the American version of The Office, which doesn’t work for me, either.
Even more annoyingly, they swear a lot, but to keep a simple 12-certificate, even minor swear words are bleeped – which is reflected in the subtitles with asterisks.
However, on a point that COULD actually happen in reality, a table of 32 ‘high school musical’-types turn up, unannounced. Hmm… that could happen. I remember a huge group of people turning up in a coach when I worked at the Little Chef in the ’90s… the manageress soon got rid of them! She wouldn’t take long with these 32 wankers, either.
Going back to those Youtube Shorts, when I saw some of those – like this programme, I didn’t laugh once.
Netflix must’ve thought the same, since releasing a series or film on a Monday is usually done by streaming services because they’re embarrassed they have to release it. It’s called “dumping a dog” – put it out on a Monday, and everyone’s forgotten about it by the time the weekend rolls around. That’s why most things release on a Thursday or Friday. Meanwhile, Apple TV put theirs out on a Wednesday to avoid getting trampled in the rush.
I understand there’s going to be a total of 28 episodes, but at the time of reviewing this, 14 were available… although I didn’t make it that far, even if they are quite short at ranging anywhere from 10 to 18 minutes in length each, and with an expected total running time of 350 minutes.
Thanks to our friends at Netflix for the screener prior to release.
