Therapy Done Right 2026 Movie Review

This movie feels as though it would have been better served as a miniseries rather than a film.

The concept is certainly interesting. A therapist with a uniquely direct and intrusive approach to solving his patients’ problems.

One patient in particular takes up most of the attention, and you begin to wonder whether the therapy is really serving the patient, the therapist himself or society as a whole.

The musical score feels a little off, and although the film is billed as a dark comedy, I struggled to work out which scenes were intended to be humorous and which were meant to provoke thought about how we’d feel if our own problems were handled in a similar manner.

Overall, it’s a fairly gentle watch with a manageable runtime of 90 minutes, so it never really drags.

My main criticism, and the reason for my rather mediocre 6 out of 10, is that there’s so much more we could have learned about the main character and his motivations. His methods are certainly unconventional, but what drives him to take such an approach?

The film raises plenty of interesting questions but ultimately fails to provide a satisfying resolution. With more time to explore the characters, their motivations and the consequences of their actions, I feel this could have made a far more compelling miniseries.
