Made in Korea 2026 Movie Review
This film is about a little girl who dreams of travelling to Korea and exploring its culture. Priyanka Mohan plays the role of Shenba, the young girl, and she performs well in the character.
Shenba develops a small interest in Korea during her school life. From that moment, she dreams of visiting the country. As a child, she tries a few childish ways to make this dream come true, but none of them work. Instead, she begins to explore Korean culture in her hometown. She listens to Korean songs, watches K-dramas, learns the Korean language, and even practices eating with chopsticks.
When Shenba becomes an adult, she trusts someone more than even her parents. Unfortunately, that trust turns into betrayal. This betrayal leads her to Korea, but the dream destination that she imagined becomes a nightmare at first. After some time, she slowly adapts to the situation, changes her mindset, and reconnects with the little girl inside her who loves Korea. From that point, her real journey begins.
Talking about the positives of the film, the story has two strong emotional layers, and both of them work well. The overall presentation is also impressive. The way the team presents Korea and the Korean language is done very nicely.
One of the negatives of the film is the language transition. When the story shifts to Korea, Shenba speaks in English and Tamil, while the Korean characters speak in Korean. Because of this, the first few minutes can be a bit difficult to follow, not only for the audience but also for Shenba’s character in the story. The idea itself is good, but if the writers had spent a little more time refining the script, it could have become a more impactful and beautiful film.
Another point is about Priyanka Mohan’s performance. This is not exactly a negative but more of a personal opinion. Her performance is good overall, but in some scenes where she tries new slang and emotional expressions, it feels slightly artificial. However, if she continues to focus more on her acting in future films, she has the potential to become a very strong actress.
Overall, it is a good film. Personally, I liked it. I was able to connect with the emotions and felt like I was travelling with Shenba throughout her journey. The film does not contain adult content, so it can be comfortably watched with family.
