Maa Behen mainly focuses on a mother and her 2 daughters, who live in Adarsh Colony. The mother has accidentally murdered her neighbor and called her daughters to hide the neighbor’s body from the colony and its people and prevent them from discovering their murder since the colony judges them negatively and spreads rumors. Direction: The film is actually great and wonderful with impressive performances and hilarious moments since it is a comedy-thriller film. I have always trusted Suresh Triveni and his direction since he has made great women-centric movies like Tumhari Sulu and Jalsa. He has shown good direction and utilized the cast properly. The themes are very important and crucial in this movie, but you should definitely watch it to know the themes. He should keep on making women-centric movies since he is a very great director of Bollywood.
Performances: Let’s talk about the actors and their performances. I have always loved and admired Madhuri Dixit since she is very beautiful and versatile in real life and reel life. She has given iconic and fabulous performances in her life due to her acting and dancing skills. This film truly shows her acting skills even though she shows her dancing skills at the end of the movie. She portrays a widowed mother and shows strength, humor, beauty, sadness, and pain equally in this movie. Her performance of this movie is strong and fantastic. It is very amazing that Bollywood and Indian Cinema truly has a versatile actress like Madhuri Dixit, who is ruling in this film industry and trying complex/experimental roles to evolve her filmography. She is and will always be the Queen/Empress of Bollywood and Indian Cinema. Tripti Dimri and Dharna Durga play the elder and younger daughters respectively, and they are fabulous and amazing since they deliver superb performances. It is very funny to see their funny arguments to strengthen the film’s humor. I am hoping that they work on many films in the future. The 3 actresses deserve praise and recognition for their roles in this film. Ravi Kishan, who plays the neighbor, is truly amazing and surprising since he has great moments. It is very good to see him in this film, and his chemistry with Madhuri Dixit is good too. The other actors have given impactful performances in the movie, and there are some cameos that enhance the storytelling of this movie.
Music, Humor, and Cinematography: The performances and direction are excellent too. The music, the humor, and the cinematography are the strongest factors of this movie. I really enjoy the remixed version of Dhak Dhak Karne Laga and the original songs like Kaari Kaari and Khol Pinjora. The BGM is utilized in scenes properly to create the hilarious moments and tensed situations. The humor is obviously good and engaging since the movie’s genre is comedy. I have laughed at some scenes when the 3 actresses argue about silly moments and have a blast. It is very good to see their relationship and chemistry. There are some boring moments, but the humor manages to make sure that the film doesn’t lose its appeal. The cinematography is very stunning and great, and it deserves praise and appreciation for enhancing the quality of the film’s scenes.
Final Verdict: Maa Behen is a hilarious and well-written movie that has a social message for women, who should have complete freedom and don’t deserve any discrimination and disrespect from the society. It has solid performances, hilarious moments, emotional scenes, memorable songs, and impressive dialogues/twists. Madhuri Dixit, Tripti Dimri, Dharna Durga, and Ravi Kishan are truly amazing actors in this film. Suresh Triveni has shown his brilliance and given a wonderful movie.
