The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare Review 2026 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online

The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare, directed by Skye Borgman and produced by Joe Berlinger, is a three-part examination of the November 13, 2022 murders of four students at Idaho State University: Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. They were brutally stabbed to death in the off-campus house they rented, and their bodies weren’t discovered until the morning after the attack. The story is told via bodycam footage from the Moscow, Idaho police, along with interviews with the victims’ friends and family, as well as law enforcement.

The docuseries starts on the morning of November 13, with the 911 call that brought the Moscow police to the house on King Street. The two surviving roommates, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, heard the commotion that happened at around 4:30 in the morning and hid, trying to get in touch with their housemates; about 7 hours later ended up calling friends to help them figure out what happened. One of those friends found two of the bodies, Kernodle and Chapin. The police then went to the third floor and found Goncalves and Mogen.

The interviews talk about how each family member and friend found out about the four students’ deaths and talks about how Kernodle and Chapin were an “annoyingly cute” couple and how Mogen and Goncalves were friends since they were kids.

As much as Berlinger and Borgman have claimed that their take on the Idaho State murders is different than the many other takes because they concentrate on the victims instead of Bryan Kohberger, who pled guilty to the murders (and has recently requested to rescind that plea), the first episode of The Idaho Murders plays out pretty much the same as Liz Garbus’ One Night In Idaho: The College Murders.

Both docuseries concentrated on the victims, talking to friends and family about the morning the bodies were discovered, how they were kept in the dark by Moscow PD and the Idaho State Police, the investigation and the arrest of Kohberger. If you didn’t watch the Garbus docuseries on Prime Video, The Idaho Murders will be a fascinating real-time look at who the victims were, the investigation into their killings, and the reverberations the grisly murders caused not only among the victims’ loved ones, but in the Moscow, Idaho community in general.

If you did watch the Garbus docuseries, though, you probably won’t learn much that’s new. The interviews with the victims’ friends and family are heart-wrenching, of course, and the law enforcement interviews are informative. But they recount the discovery of the bodies and the stories of the victims in much the same way that Garbus’ docuseries did.
