Just finished binge-watching The Dinosaurs on Netflix, and honestly… what a blast.
From the very first episode it pulls you straight into its prehistoric world, and before you know it you’re hitting “next episode” again and again. I ended up watching the entire season in one go because it’s just that addictive. The storytelling keeps things exciting, the pacing never drags, and every episode leaves you wanting more.
Sure, there are moments where the CGI gets a little dodgy here and there. But it never reaches the point where it ruins the experience. In fact, the sheer scale and ambition of the visuals still make it impressive most of the time. When the dinosaurs are on screen and things start unfolding, it genuinely feels epic.
That said, I do wish they had expanded the creature roster a bit more. There were so many fascinating species they could have included. It would’ve been amazing to see reptiles from the Permian Period, especially Dimetrodon from the early Permian. On the dinosaur side, some giants were noticeably missing too. Species like Carcharodontosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, Suchomimus, Baryonyx, and even the iconic Brachiosaurus would have made the world feel even richer.
One of the standout moments for me was the intense battle between a female Allosaurus and a Stegosaurus. That fight was exceptional. Watching the Stegosaurus defend itself with its brutal thagomizer was thrilling, and when the male Allosaurus later took revenge after the female got stabbed by the Stego’s tail spikes, it added a surprisingly dramatic layer to the story. The cannibalistic behavior between the Allosaurus was also a dark but fascinating touch that made the ecosystem feel more raw and realistic.
What really makes the series work is the sense of wonder. It reminds you why dinosaurs have fascinated people for generations. Whether it’s the intense encounters, the environmental storytelling, or just seeing these ancient creatures brought to life again, the show manages to capture that excitement perfectly.
