Star Search Review 2026 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online
I watched Star Search growing up – it was a good show! The contestants felt real and, while they were always well rehearsed, no one felt scripted. This version of Star Search felt like half the contestants are people who already had their shot at fame and couldn’t take it to the next level, and the other half were given under produced karaoke tracks and told to go figure it out.
One magician already had a headliner act in Vegas. Both of the young singers were already working – one in Dollywood, one on Broadway. There was a group of contemporary dancers against a group of… arm dancers? I’m sure the boy group would have been 10 times better without having a karaoke track to sing to and if their boy band dance moves hadn’t also been pulled from the 90’s.
This was the best Netflix could pull together? Anthony made a joke about,” this is Netflix, we don’t have any commercials” and every single one of us viewers did a facepalm move when THAT was said. Everything was underproduced. The music tracks were terrible. And y’all couldn’t pull the little kids songs to sing from this century?
As for the host and judges – Anthony needs more energy, Chrissy was her usual beautiful self but didn’t add a lot of substance in her critiques, Jelly lost his rolls (he’s seriously half the person he used to be) but gave good suggestions and had a great sense of humor, and Sarah was stunning and gave good critiques but looked bored – which, to be fair, was authentic because I was bored, too.
Maybe I’ve been spoiled by AGT, BGT, American Idol? Y’all need a band to play this music, need a prize worth actually fighting for, need contestants that are actually regular people and not already introduced to the business, need to climb into 2026 and not be looking and sounding like 1992, and a host and judge team that brings some power and oomph to the process. And maybe some advertisement, too? You can always tell when Netflix kicks something out it doesn’t have faith in due to lack of advertising, and this show screams 1 season only just from that standpoint.
