Under a Dark Sun Review 2025 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online
It’s a great opportunity for Alba ( Ava Baya ) when she receives an invitation to an interview to work as a picker at a flower farm. The boss doesn’t know anything about it, which causes some initial irritation. Nevertheless, she gets the job and with it the opportunity to start afresh with her son. But she doesn’t have much time to celebrate her offer, as the boss in question is murdered shortly afterwards. And she, of all people, is one of the suspects, as she learns, to her great surprise, that she is named in the will. But how can that be? What connections does she have to this wealthy family? And above all: who committed this murder?
There have been a few series on Netflix recently that explore the depths of human nature . There was The Survivors: The Storm, about a young man who returns to his old hometown and has to confront his painful past. The Waterfront is about a dysfunctional family and their criminal activities. And Olympo is no slouch either: it tells the story of young people who dream of a great career at a renowned sports facility and who make each other’s lives hell in the process. If you’ve already watched all of these series, you could try Under the Black Sun , because there are tons of dark secrets waiting to be discovered in this French production.
One thing you have to give the series credit for: it doesn’t waste any time. Even before we know what Under the Black Sun is about and what the protagonist’s story is, there’s already a body. Sure, it’s the same with a classic whodunit. But while things calm down there afterwards, here something could happen at any time. So it doesn’t take long before the next life-threatening situation arises and you, as the viewer, have no idea what’s happening to you. Overall, the body count isn’t all that high; this isn’t an action thriller. But it does manage to create an atmosphere of danger. You can never be sure who’s out to get you.
Then there are the stumbling blocks in terms of content. To be more precise, this is one of those series where a lot of fun was had with the twists and turns. While it is basically clear that the plot is about the estate’s great inheritance, you know roughly what it is being staged for, in Under the Black Sun this is one of the few factors where you can claim to be clear. Right up until the end, dirty secrets are being uncovered, characters turn out to be other people, and truths that were previously believed to be certain are turned on their head. And of course, in the end everything is completely different anyway, and many people will rub their eyes in surprise when it is revealed what exactly happened – and why.
Audiences that enjoy twists and turns can take a look here. Fans of Harlan Coben ( In His Hands ) in particular might be tempted by the series. As with the adaptations of the bestselling author, the same applies to Under the Black Sun : you might want to put your brain on standby. Once you start thinking about all this nonsense and the completely exaggerated stories, you could quickly become frustrated, especially since some of the plot lines are over before they’ve even really begun. Every now and then you even wonder whether it’s all meant seriously or whether it’s not perhaps a satire on soap operas. Overall, the mystery thriller does have some entertaining parts. But you hardly have to see it.
In “Under the Black Sun,” a woman believes she can start a new life as a flower picker, but after a murder, her past catches up with her. This mystery thriller series is aimed at an audience who enjoys twists and turns. However, don’t expect the over-the-top story to make sense.
