Rain Dogs Review 2023 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online
Set in the United Kingdom, the story of Rain Dogs follows a working-class single mother that goes by the name of Costello Jones. With the trailer for the series giving audiences a peek of the premise, she is suddenly evicted from her home and is forced into a game of survival with her rambunctious but quick-witted daughter Iris. Hopping from place to place trying to find a new place of residence, Costello ends up finding a helping hand from her best friend and godmother to her daughter, Gloria, who becomes both reliable to Costello and anarchic in situations that call for desperate measures.
Luckily, another form of assistance comes in the form of Selby, an acquaintance of Costello who was just released from jail due to resorting to violent means in order to protect her some time ago. Loudly proclaiming to be “a classical homosexual” and proudly showing his overly sarcastic personality, he serves as not only an emotional outlet for Costello when she needs to vent but also a much-needed father figure for Iris. With a very dysfunctional but strong sense of family surrounding them, Costello and Iris gather enough strength and willpower to tackle the ups and downs of today’s rigged social conventions.
The show is a dark comedy that does not shy away from the harsh realities of poverty, prejudice and social injustice. It also explores the themes of motherhood, friendship, sexuality and identity with honesty and humor. The show has a punky and energetic style that matches the personality of its protagonist, who is always ready to fight for what she believes in.
The show also benefits from the excellent performances of its cast, especially Cooper, who delivers a charismatic and nuanced portrayal of Costello. She makes us laugh, cry and root for her character, who is flawed but lovable. Tashjian is also impressive as Iris, who has a sharp wit and a big heart. Farthing adds some charm and contrast as Hugo, who has his own struggles with his family and his sexuality.
Rain Dogs is a refreshing and original series that offers a rare glimpse into the lives of people who are often ignored or marginalized by society. It is also a moving and inspiring story of love and survival that will make you laugh out loud one minute and tear up the next.
