Death Before the Wedding 2025 Movie Review
Death Before the Wedding also known as Zgon przed weselem started streaming on Netflix on February 12, 2025, and it adds to the recent Polish content that has taken the viewers by storm in the last year or so with the likes of 1670, and more recently The Hooligan. Death Before the Wedding blends in comedy amidst an interesting family dynamic as a love story also flows concurrently. Here is a review of the film.
Death Before the Wedding is the kind of film that will pleasantly surprise you and give you a peek into the family dynamic of the quintessential Polish family. It has moments of humor, tragedy, and a beautiful story that binds it all together. What we loved most about this film is how it was shot with the ensemble cast and how the frames are able to accommodate most of those characters with their relationship dynamics creating a subliminal undercurrent through every scene.
The cinematography is character-oriented and captures the essence of space through this family. The central plot of the Dairy crisis is a great external situation that gives a motivation for the internal worlds of the characters to evolve and change.
The performances by Agnieszka Suchora and Tomasz Karolak are the center around which the film pivots along. They hold the show together and are equally vulnerable and expressive at the same time. The film’s climax is predictable but fulfilling.
The film’s beauty lies in its simplicity. The way the characters behave is relatable no matter where you are watching the film from. The film lacks innovation in its editing. The film’s length is below 2 hours but it starts to seem stretched after a certain point. Nevertheless, we will recommend Death Before the World for sure. It should be on your watchlist.
