Ángel Di María: Breaking Down the Wall Review 2024 Tv Show Series Cast Crew Online
Angel Di Maria is undoubtedly a talented footballer. He’s revered as one of the more technical midfielders in the Argentina team and an idol in his own right. However, his career has been anything but smooth sailing. Battling adversity and various transfers that haven’t worked out (including a big money move to Manchester United), this 3 part documentary dives into Di Maria’s career, charting his rise, fall and subsequent resurgence in the footballing world.
The three episodes complement one another nicely, with the first ending on a pivotal red card that turns the tide for Di Maria. With Argentina crashing out of the World Cup in 2010, the second episode then turns to Di Maria’s club career with Real Madrid and the aforementioned move to Man Utd.
Finally, the third chapter then moves from this to Di Maria’s resurgence and comeback story, rounding things out nicely. For those unaware of the full journey, I won’t spoil it here but suffice to say, there’s enough meat here to sink your teeth into. And hearing Di Maria narrate passionately every instance of his life certainly adds a lot of colour to this one.
The show mixes in archival footage from on the pitch with talking head interviews featuring numerous famous faces. Expect everyone from Messi to Jose Mourinho lending their voice to Angel’s career, along with his friends and family chiming in with their thoughts.
Understanding what drove Di Maria and got him into football is arguably the best part of the docu-series, while understanding his mindset during some of the more testing moments of his career help to understand the mindset of this guy and how he overcome adversity to come out stronger on the other side.
Football fans should be in their element with this one, especially if you want all the ins and outs surrounding Di Maria’s illustrious career. The three episodes are a decent length and there’s enough here to make for a solid recommendation. If you’re after an in-depth documentary about one of Argentina’s more gifted midfielders, this one’s definitely worth checking out.
