The Weight 2026 Movie Review
Weight (2026) initially gives the impression of a high-quality production. The film opens with a strong dramaturgical weight that immediately establishes its lead and hits the mark with precision. Ethan Hawke is the absolute highlight here; he completely steals the intro with a performance so magnetic you cannot take your eyes off him. For a moment, it seems as though Hawke is set to anchor one of the year’s most compelling character studies.
Unfortunately, once the film transitions into Act 2, it quickly runs out of essence. The tension evaporates because the script offers nothing to effectively hold the audience’s interest. The most glaring issue is the total absence of an antagonistic force to counterweight or oppose the protagonist.
