72 Hours 2026 Movie Review

I honestly went into this film low expectations. I was expecting something similar to Kevin’s recent films like ‘Me Time’ where I expected weak writing, weak directing, weak jokes and bad storytelling but I was somewhat impressed with certain aspects. I was expecting Kevin’s character to be a complete idiot and just a bunch of “its funny because he’s short” jokes with a bunch of screaming and running but there were actually some cool ideas presented in here where it wasn’t as predictable on what was happening next. And mostly glad Kevin wasn’t annoying in this movie.

Kam Patterson, Ben Marshall, Mason Gooding and Marcello Hernandez are all really funny and likable in their roles. I was expecting cliche annoying gen-z stereotypes but they all were written individually well and quite funny. Mike Epps, Anna Garcia, Michael Mando and Katt Williams were also some good standouts in this and may have been some of the scene stealers in this. There’s a lot of funny moments in here, and will admit I found it better than Scary Movie 6.

I did like that the story was heartwarming and that the characters were likable. It’s nothing too special or exciting as a story but it was fun to watch it all come together. I do think the film struggled with balancing being a comedy and then an action film, at times it felt overwhelming or that it had identity issues but it was good enough to still be a fun watch. The plot is similar to The Hangover in a way but I’d argue it’s better than The Hangover 2 & 3. The directing is great. The action sequences especially the limo fight scene is done very well. The film just looks great. It does a great job of creating the vibe and tone of Miami. The film feels like a really fun vibe and overall it just works especially visually.

My main issue was I wish other performers had a bit more screen time but I still had fun with this overall and I’m shocked to say this because I haven’t enjoyed a Kevin Hart movie in years. Another issue (which is small) was Teyana Taylor as Kevin’s girlfriend. She just seemed out of place as the love interest and her and Kevin just seemed to lack chemistry that I rarely felt anything between them. Kevin had stronger chemistry with literally every other actor in this.

Now this film isn’t anything special and in ways I can see it being forgettable but it is one of the better Kevin Hart movies and one of the better Netflix comedies in general. It’s worth the watch if you have the time or it can be a fun film to watch on a movie night. It’s an action comedy with sex, drugs, violence. I see some bad reviews and I don’t get what people wanted considering this is one of the better raunchy comedy films in a while.
