I have never been so torn. The actors, old and new, are doing a wonderful job. Swizz is doing an amazing job with the musical feel of each scene. It is grimey and gritty, which I love.
There is something grating about hearing cliche dialog and tropes that are recycled from such well known movies and TV shows, such as the Sopranos and Goodfellas. I have to hear “aye wee man” and “you f’ing mutt you” and it is like fingernails on a chalkboard. It is just not natural to hear thes well known players speak with such foreign accents and the script seems inexperienced and lacking authenticity, and perhaps it was rushed.
Often times, shows find their footing after a few episodes and I am willing to roll the dice and tough it out. I am shocked nobody has reviewed it yet, so here are my 2 cents… free of charge.
I hope you enjoy the show more than I did, but I hope more than anything that it blossoms into what it has the potential to become. We need more than the brainless reality TV shows, AI generated slop, CGI action films with no story, and influencer-based baloney. If they put in the money and effort to create this kind of stuff, I owe it to at least stick it out for the long haul. Fingers crossed.
