Corporate Retreat 2026 Movie Review
Writer/director Aaron Fisher brought almost the entire cast to the Brussels’ International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) for the world premiere of “Corporate Retreat”. Is this such a prestigious and glorious project that the red carpet should be rolled out everywhere? Or the other way around? Maybe the youthful cast has nothing better to do and is trying to distract attention from the fact that “Corporate Retreat” is really a rather silly movie?
It’s the second option, for sure, but I don’t want to sound too negative either, because all in all I had fun with “Corporate Retreat”. Besides, it’s undoubtedly a film that belongs at a festival like BIFFF because there is an extreme amount of gratuitous gore, absurd black humor, a few disgusting moments that make you cringe in your seat, fresh beautiful faces (both male and female), a catchy soundtrack, and … Did I mention already there’s lots of gore?
If you want to enjoy “Corporate Retreat”, it is a requirement that you completely turn off your rational thinking capacities. How is it possible that all these CEOs are barely 20 years old and look like scout leaders? Not important! Is it plausible that an ordinary person can slit the throat of a colleague? Or cut open a corpse and take out the heart? Yes, of course! Can you remove your own eyeball with a spoon? Even when forced? Shall we just accept that a former CEO completely transformed himself into some sort of spiritual cult leader and has two attractive young ladies as loyal followers? Sure, why not…
“Corporate Retreat” is the type of movie that gets worse every time you start contemplating about it, and unfortunately you also get a lot of time to think because the “gateways” rituals are tedious and overlong, and the monologues of psychopath Alan Ruck are way too boring. If you are a fan of mindless bloodshed and slashing, the film is enjoyable, but for better titles with the same premise/setting, I recommend “Severance”, “Konferensen”, or “Inhuman Resources”.
